finding a RA position

Post finding a RA position 
how would i find an RA position? is there a central place where open spots are posted or do i need to talk to the profs one by one?
also, what is a GA?

GA : Graduate Assistance is university sponsored. GA positions are advertised through univ email or departmental email. Different dept. have their own GA positions. GA 's work is a kind of genera help to a department. Such as web maintainance, logistic help etc.

RA is given by a professor and is research specific.

RA positions are advertised through departmental email. For RAship , ou need to talk to professor.
